Our client’s brief was to create a huge open plan kitchen, pantry, dining and living space from their two current separate rooms – a country kitchen and a redundant living room. We designed the two rooms as one space, carefully optimising the space for each area to work both aesthetically and functionally for our client.
We commissioned Neptune kitchens to supply the kitchen and pantry units, whilst a large painted deep blue island was created to ‘house’ the existing 5 oven Aga, wine cooler – with a commissioned piece of Italian granite for the worktop. Calm neutral tones were introduced for the perimeter units and worktops, which seamlessly flowed through the secret sliding oak door, into the pantry.
An informal dining area was created with banquette seating against the central island, incorporating the client’s much loved oak dining table and oak rush seated dining chairs.
A log burner and full bi-fold opening doors were installed in the living area, bespoke contrast edged full length curtains, brightly coloured velvet backed sofa cushions and contrast velvet piped leather armchair and dining chair squabs were commissioned and installed.
The back door entrance way was transformed into a neat bespoke commissioned boot room – with open hooks for hunting and dog walking kit, large sliding drawers and heavy wooden cupboards to discreetly house outerwear clothing and accessories.
I could not be happier. Katherine is not only skilled in her craft of very tasteful design, but she also has a very empathetic way of working which I suspect she adapts for each client. I came to the table with some pretty firm ideas about what I wanted. She steered me when necessary, but allowed me to do much of the leg work and research myself.
