The clients of this elegant Regency townhouse required a completely new kitchen and to transform an adjoining laundry room on a slightly lower level, into a dining room.
The team raised the new dining room floor and structurally enlarged the existing single doorway from the kitchen into the newly acquired dining area. Bespoke floor to ceiling storage was designed and installed across one side of the new dining room – enclosing a secret laundry area and useful household storage. New wooden flooring was installed to match the existing kitchen floor, a beautiful contemporary painted solid wood kitchen, off white quartz worktops, elegant wall and island lighting – completed by a bespoke commissioned antiqued mirrored glass wall, stretching across the Aga backdrop. The finished effect created natural light, height and a crisp contemporary space, yet sympathetic to the building’s origins of symmetry and elegance.
The second and third briefs from the client included transforming two original reception rooms into one – removing the separating wall, exposing a forgotten original fireplace and introducing matching limestone fire surrounds and hearths to link the two rooms symmetrically. The new larger area was spatially designed and new furniture, lighting and a colour scheme for the walls and flooring were introduced.
The additional brief included a complete restoration of the original superb Regency main staircase – the walls and staircase were re-decorated and a bespoke flatweave wool runner and loop pile carpets were sourced and fitted – lit by a statement 7 light cascading stairwell light and matching entrance hall light.
The on-going projects of our Grade II listed house, two years ago we decided to redesign our kitchen dining room and needed someone who would listen to our ideas and make them happen, Pomander Interiors fitted the bill perfectly, removing a wall and fitting a lovely new kitchen and hidden utility room, the project turned out better than we ever imagined. A year later we asked Pomander back for a redesign of the living room and office space. Katherine’s eye for detail and furnishings is second to none and the new sofas carpets and paint look amazing. So you won’t be surprised that Pomander are back for year 3 to redecorate the hallway and staircase with new carpet and paint befitting an old house, what’s next I wonder? For sure Pomander Interiors will be involved.
